    GOP has championed social causes

"Flower-power legacy one of positive change," (Jan. 28), is probably the most perfidious letters I have read in this paper in a long while.

There was not an ounce of truth anywhere in its content. The author knows nothing of the sordid racist history of the Democratic party and the progressive movement. A short history of Woodrow Wilson's racism would prove enlightening.

President Roosevelt's nomination of KKK member Hugo Black to the Supreme Court would be another. It was Republican President Eisenhower who opened the school doors to black school children. It is conservative Republicans who want school vouchers for poor black children to escape their progressive school hell. It was Woodrow Wilson signing on to the creation of the Federal Reserve that caused the Depression. The great recession has progressive policies finger prints all over it.
