Mystic — The family of Daniel Strelczuk, who has been missing since his boat was found adrift near Fishers Island Saturday, is requesting photos from Saturday that show the boat sailing.

The family is especially interested in photos that might provide clues as to when the boat went off-course.

“I’m really hoping to find a photo of the boat heading out to sea,” said Strelczuk’s son Adam. “That would give me an idea of where he might have fallen in.”

Strelczuk was sailing his white 1974 30-foot Dufour sloop, named the Cassiopea, when he went missing between the hours of 1 and 7 p.m. Saturday while heading back to Spicer’s Marina in Noank from New London, after watching the Charles W. Morgan sail.

The sloop can be distinguished by the long windows along its sides and the flags it flies, according to Adam Strelczuk. The sloop flies an American flag and a Polish flag, which is red and white.

Adam Strelczuk said the sloop has a green canopy over its cockpit and was towing a dingy Saturday. He said he did not believe the boat had a sail number.

Photos taken between 1 and 7 p.m. from Avery Point, Bluff Point, Groton Long Point or Fishers Island would probably be the most useful, he said.

“We’re just trying to recreate it more than anything,” he said.
