UPDATED: 900 homes in Lymes without power

About 900 homes are without power in Lyme, East Lyme and Old Lyme after a mechanical failure, according to Connecticut Light and Power.

At 8:30 p.m., the CL&P outage map reported 668 customers without power in Old Lyme, 195 customers without power in Lyme and 49 customers without power in East Lyme.

Pat Bandzes, a spokeswoman for the utility company, said the outages were caused by the failure of a switch on Route 1 in Old Lyme.

Bandzes said a crew is on its way to repair the switch and “once they get there, they don’t expect it will take long.”
