Police use stun gun on Colchester man wanted for multiple charges
Griswold — State police said they used a stun gun Wednesday to subdue a Colchester man wanted on seven different arrest warrants.
Dwayne Shippee, 39, of 330 Chestnut Hill Road in Colchester was charged with interfering with police after police said he “not compliant” with troopers from Montville’s Troop E barracks trying to arrest him at a home on Stetson Road in Griswold. Police had used a Taser during the incident. Shippee was taken for treatment of a minor injury at The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich and later held on $25,500 in bonds.
The arrest came hours after police said he fled Hopeville Campground in Griswold where police had used multiple K9 teams in an attempt to locate Shippee.
Shippee is due to appear today in Norwich Superior Court. Police, in a brief press statement, did not reveal the nature of the pending arrest warrants.
