American Heart Association hosts Rocky Neck Heart Walk Oct. 5
East Lyme -The Rocky Neck Heart Walk will take place at 10 a.m. Oct. 5 at Rocky Neck State Park. Registration will begin at 9 a.m.
The American Heart Association encourages companies, families and friends to create a team, register at www.RockyNeckHeartWalk.org and participate in the 3-mile walk. No minimum donation is required.
This will the 25th year of this event in Southeastern Connecticut, the heart association said in a news release. The event will be co-chaired by Mohegan Sun’s Vice President of Resort Operations, Michael Hamilton and Paul Formica, first selectman and Republican candidate for the 20th District State Senate and proprietor at Flanders Fish Market. The goal for the walk is to raise more than $250,000 to support the mission of the American Heart Association by funding lifesaving research, education and public policy changes to build a healthier community, the organization said.
The walk is locally sponsored by Mohegan Sun, The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Dominion, owner of the Millstone Power Station in Waterford, Flanders Fish Market, Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, Charter Oak Federal Credit Union, Soft Rock 106.5, Jammin 107.7, News Now 94.9 and U.S. Country 99.5 Radio, The Day, Sun Publishing and NBC Connecticut. The heart walk is nationally sponsored by Subway.
