New London police arrest seven in Blackhall Street disturbance

New London — Police said they used a stun gun and pepper spray to contain a large disturbance in the area of Blackhall and Belden streets Saturday.

Seven people were arrested and two officers suffered minor injuries during the 6:58 p.m. incident, according to a police department press release.

Police responded to a report of a large group of family members involved in a heated argument, according to police. As the officers attempted to disperse the participants, they became hostile and unruly, police said, and officers used a Taser and pepper spray to gain control.

Kaitlyne Hamilton was charged with assault on a police officer and interfering with a police officer and is being held in lieu of $5,000. They are scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on Monday.
