New London police arrest man after assault on pregnant girlfriend
New London — New London police arrested a 19-year-old man Monday after his pregnant girlfriend was treated at a Hartford hospital for injuries that were serious but not life-threatening, according to a police department news release.
The woman told police she was attacked over a three-day period, the release said. Police were called to the hospital at 4:45 a.m. on Saturday after it was determined the domestic violence occurred in New London, the release said.
Samuel Castillo, 19, whose address was not provided, was charged with second-degree kidnapping, second-degree strangulation, second-degree unlawful restraint, second-degree assault on a pregnant person, second-degree threatening, disorderly conduct and refusal to be fingerprinted, the release said.
He was held on $185,000 in bonds pending arraignment in New London Superior Court.
