Man charged with breaking into 13 cars at Norwich auto shop

Norwich — A 22-year-old city man was charged Wednesday with burglarizing 13 cars at Dream Automotive LLC in February.

Police said Zachary Knight of 28 Maple St. went to the 431 Laurel Hill Ave. automotive shop on Feb. 11 and broke into the vehicles, damaging some of them. Police said Knight took various electronics from different vehicles and caused about $2,200 in damage.

Police charged Knight on a warrant with 12 counts of third-degree burglary, criminal attempt to commit third-degree burglary, four counts of third-degree criminal mischief and fifth-degree larceny.

Knight remains in custody on a $30,000 bond and is next due May 23 in Norwich Superior Court.
