Small plane with 1 on board crashes in Plainville

PLAINVILLE, Conn. (AP) — A small airplane with only the pilot on board has crashed near an airport in Plainville.
The Federal Aviation Administration says the Rutan Defiant aircraft crashed south of the town's airport around 10:45 a.m. Thursday.
There was no immediate word on the condition of the pilot. Emergency crews were responding to the scene of the crash.
The FAA says it will investigate and the National Transportation Safety Board will determine the probable cause of the accident.
