Groton — Naval Submarine Base New London officials said military personnel who live near 8 Orion Ave. will be granted administrative leave until a situation involving a man barricaded inside with a gun has ended.

Sub base officials said the Child Development Center will be closed Wednesday for the same reason.

Police had requested area residents remain inside with their doors locked out of an abundance of caution.

The man has been barricaded inside since about 7:15 p.m. Residents said they had heard shots being fired from the home.
