Ryan Hartt & the Blue Hearts headline in Mystic Monday

    Ryan Hartt (Contributed)

Having "Hartt" as a surname is an excellent thing if one's trying to make it in the entertainment business. Much more than if your last name was "Liver" or "Spleen."

For example, what if it had been Tom Hartt & the Heartbreakers instead of Petty? Well, Tom just did fine, so that's OK.

Plus, this construct is working out really well for Ryan Hartt, who brings his band the Blue Hearts to Mystic for this week's edition of the Blue Monday concert series in Mystic River Park. The band, with a sound based in a heady amalgam of West Coast and Chicago blues with flourishes of rock and soul, has spent almost two decades touring relentless out of a sense of honor and duty to the music.

Prepare to see authentic, "we do this because we can't NOT do it" blues.

Blue Monday Concert Series presents Ryan Hartt & the Blue Hearts, 6-8 p.m. Monday, Mystic River Park, 28 Cottrell St., Mystic; free; canned goods and/or donations benefitting Stonington Education Fund an Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center accepted; see Facebook Blue Monday.
