It's a dog's day in Groton
Groton — Not everyone was into exercising Friday, despite the warm, sunny weather.
Kane, the 3-year old English bulldog of the Albrikes family of Mystic, was ignoring tennis balls and relaxing courtside as William Albrikes, 12, practiced moves under the watchful eye of his father, Jerry, on the public court in Noank Park.
Jerry Albrikes, a 2017 inductee to the U.S. Tennis Association's New England Hall of Fame, runs the tennis program — including both full court and paddle tennis — at the Stonington Community Center, called the COMO. Jerry said his family normally would use the COMO courts for their outings. But those courts are closed due to coronavirus concerns, while the Noank court is open to groups of four or fewer.
