Hygienic reopens Art Park Friday to celebrate two new gallery shows

Facility's Art Park will open for Friday celebrations

On Friday, Hygienic Art in New London will reopen its outdoor Art Park in celebration of their "And Now?" and "Into the Sphere" exhibitions. Participating artists will be on hand to meet visitors at the opening, which takes place from 5:30-8 p.m.

"And Now?" features the work of Åke Arnerdal and will be on display in the Lower Gallery through Aug. 1. The Swedish native is inspired by children's art, folk art and the Baroque period and, in a release, says his work is a very subjective response to the rapidly changing world around him.

David Madasci, Bill Shockley and Katia J. Levanti are the artists whose works are included in the "Into the Sphere" show in the Main Gallery, also through Aug. 1. The release says the three artists draw inspiration from the same elements and energies of the natural world and, though different in message, their works are joined in spirit.

The opening is free to all ages, and a BYO Dine-In with local restaurants is suggested. Hygienic Art, 79-83 Bank St., New London; (860) 443-8001, hygienic.org.
