Don't complain about child support, pay it

    Child Support System

The letter by Ali Starkley, “Child support system: a form of apartheid,” (July 7), just fried my last nerve. Apartheid? Or are you talking about child support? Is this letter about you? You said babies (or baby), that you must pay child support for. You did not mention if the mother worked or what type of housing she and your children live in. Why do you think child support is rigorously enforced? Let's see, to house, feed and clothe your children, perhaps?

If you cannot get access to your children, go to court. You sure do complain a lot. Can we stop comparing black, brown and whites? All three have people who are either poor, middle class and rich and everything in between. Your child support is based on your earnings, not your color.

You state you live on $145 a week. What do your children and the mother of your children live on? Having trouble living on what you earn or receive? You can work many jobs, your children cannot. No one is going to get you out of poverty, but yourself.

    Quit whining!

Apartheid versus child support? Your children did not ask to be born, but you must support them − they're your children.
