Earth stories: Ana Flores sculptures and paintings at Lyman Allyn

An exhibition opening this weekend at the Lyman Allyn Art Museum explores what made Ana Flores an ecological artist.

Flores is based in Rhode Island and Nova Scotia and is a person of many talents — sculptor, ecologist, writer and curator.

“Forest Dreaming: Sculptures and Paintings by Ana Flores” reflects how living at the edge of a forest helped inspire her toward a new type of art. As she said in a statement, “My intellectual and aesthetic bedrock which was once narrowly focused on art history has shifted, earth stories have become the compelling force for my creative work.”

“Forest Dreaming: Sculptures and Paintings by Ana Flores,” opens Saturday and runs through Oct. 24, Lyman Allyn Art Museum, 625 Williams St., New London; hours 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tues.-Sat. and 1-5 p.m. Sun.; $12 for adults, $9 for seniors, $5 for students, $7 for active military personnel, and free for kids under 12, for members and for New London residents; (860) 443-2545, lymanallyn.org.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
