    H.S. roundup: Ledyard wins ECC Division II softball title

    Killingly — Jen Towne went 4-for-5 with three RBI as Ledyard downed Killingly on Wednesday, 19-3, to clinch the Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II softball title.

    Aaliyah Amidon went 2-for-3 with four RBI, Maddie Gauthier went 2-for-3 and Madi Miller pitched the win for the Colonels (12-5, 7-0).

    In other games:

    • Maddy Stepski went 4-for-5, including a double and home run, with six RBI and three runs in Stonington's 19-4 win over Plainfield in an ECC Division III victory. Kelsea Anderson went 3-for-4, including a triple and home run, with six RBI, Hannah Nulick had two hits and an RBI and Carli LoPresto had two hits, including a double, for the Bears (10-3, 6-0).

    • Caity Flynn pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts and added two runs and two stolen bases as Norwich Tech shutout Ellis Tech, 8-0, in a Connecticut Technical Conference game. Morgan Cook had two hits, including a double, and scored for the Warriors (9-1) while Gabby Fedus, Emily Grant, Autumn Hanks and Janelle Lambert all singled and scored.

    • Windham Tech beat Grasso Tech, 27-15, in a CTC game. Nichol Botello, Alicia Rodriguez and Franchessca Tillman singled for Grasso (0-10).

    • Fitch beat NFA 5-2 in an ECC Division I game on Tuesday. McKynzi Dawson and Grace Cosmopoulos had two hits each and Dawson scored twice for Fitch (7-5, 2-2). Madison Waltke was 3-for-3, Morgan Tainter singled, doubled and drove in a run and Jillian Dykema tripled and scored for NFA (9-6, 1-4).

    Girls' lacrosse

    • Rita Sefransky had four goals and two assists and Nora Casey added three goals and three assists to pace Fitch past Waterford, 14-7. Madison Corbiel scored three times, Bridget O'Leary had a goal and two assists and Sophia Claing had two goals for Fitch (7-5). Gabriella Bousquet and Emily and Madison Gates and all scored twice for the Lancers (9-3) and Victoria Sturm added a goal and an assist.

    • Old Lyme lost to North Branford 16-10 in a Shoreline Conference game. Caroline Curtiss scored five goals, Ella Curtiss-Reardon had two goals and five assists, Emily Mesham scored twice and Sydney Goudling had a goal for Old Lyme (3-10, 2-7).

    • Keleigh Summers had three goals and three assists to lead Fairfield Ludlowe to a 20-8 nonconference win over East Lyme on Tuesday night. Meg Nagle had two goals and an assist to lead the Vikings (8-4) while Lily Poletto added a goal and an assist.

    Boys' lacrosse

    • East Lyme survived a scare from NFA to remain unbeaten in ECC Division I play, edging the Wildcats 16-15 on Tuesday night behind a four goal, six assist night by Drew Sager. Anthony Gesino added four goals and an assist for the Vikings (9-4, 5-0) while Sawyer Tighe had two goals and two assists and Sean McCusker, Jack Keating and Jack Campbell had two goals apiece. Logan Jenkins had six goals and an assist for NFA (7-5, 2-4) while Anthony Ballestrini scored six goals and Quinn Perkins finished with three goals and two assists.

    • Gavin Emmons scored six goals to highlight Bacon Academy's 15-9 win over St. Bernard/Wheeler in an ECC Division II game on Tuesday. Sam Blumberger added two goals and an assist for the Bobcats (7-4, 5-0) while Tyler Daniels had two goals and an assist, Jameson Pirro scored twice and Jack Holmes had two assists. Cam Riley had three goals and three assists for the Saints (4-7, 3-3), including the 100th goal of his career, while Jackson Brenek added three goals and two assists.

    Boys' golf

    • Bacon Academy won the medal point 176-177 to earn a 4-3 win over East Lyme. Jack Bucko of East Lyme was the medalist with a 38. Connor Tuttle (41) and Ryan Claffey (45) won their matches for Bacon (3-6) while Tyler Moore (39) and Nate Blankenship (49) had wins for East Lyme (5-5).

    • Old Lyme lost to North Branford 171-187 in a Shoreline Conference match. Dakota Cooper of North Branford was the medalist with a 37. Pat Flanagan led Old Lyme (3-7, 3-7) with a 38 and teammate Andrew Hedberg shot a 47.

    • Norwich Tech beat Griswold 7-0 in a nonleague match. Josh Lavender was the medalist with a 48 and Josh James, Jake Darras, Zach Lamitie and Chase Nicholas also won matches for the Warriors (8-3). Griswold is 1-6.

    • Waterford beat Old Saybrook 6.5-0.5 in a nonleague match. Zach Beardsley of Waterford (6-5) was the medalist with a 43 and teammates Owen Lanuza (46) and Andrew Pafias (48) also won their matches while Drew Zanghetti tied with Old Saybrook's Drew Kulmann at 47 in the No. 1 match.

    Boys' volleyball

    • South Windsor topped Norwich Tech 25-9, 25-11, 25-13. Jared Enciso had five assists and two kills for Norwich Tech (2-9) and Luis Santiago had five digs and two kills.

    Baseball

    • Old Lyme broke open a close game with a five-run sixth inning to defeat Coginchaug 11-5 in the Shoreline Conference on Tuesday. Santiago Rodriguez struck out seven over 5.2 innings to earn the win and Casey Hurtgen record the final four outs to earn the save. Owen Snurkowski went 3-for-4 with two RBI for the Wildcats (8-8, 8-8) and Jimmy Creagan was 3-for-3 with two RBI, while Jack Porter, David Evers and Riley Warecke added two hits each.
