CIAC postpones all lacrosse state tournament games for the second straight day

The CIAC has postponed all state semifinal boys’ and girls’ lacrosse games schedule for today.

“After medical and meteorological consultation, the CIAC has postponed today’s boys’ and girls’ lacrosse state tournament semifinals to Friday due to air quality issues,” the CIAC said in a release. “All 12 games will now be hosted by the higher seeded school, no neutral site games. Multiple neutral site host locations that were available today were not available Friday due to other commitments.”

The top-seeded East Lyme girls, who were scheduled to play No. 4 Pomperaug at Wethersfield High School, will now host the Panthers on Friday at 4 p.m.

The CIAC has also altered its state championship schedule, although all lacrosse games will still be played at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield. All six games will be played on Sunday (four) and Monday (two), although the schedule has yet to be determined because of the potential for graduation conflicts.

All baseball, softball and golf events are still on as scheduled for Friday and Saturday, and the the CIAC Invitational tennis semifinals were moved indoors today to Milford Indoor Tennis with the finals to be played indoors on Friday (boys at Milford, girls at Wesleyan University in Middletown).
