The Chestnut Street Playhouse is holding its third annual Playwrights Festival, with staged readings Friday through Sunday at the Norwich theater.

The selected plays are “After” by Mike Ackerman, “Love in the Time of Nothing” by Jayne Hannah, “Mother's Day” by Ava Molnar, “The Infinite Cost of Love” by Michael R. McGuire, “Pretty & Prosperous” and ”Mr. Hitman” by Emma Montieth. There is also a sneak preview of “Cold” by Ben Jolivet.

The playwrights are all from Connecticut or Rhode Island.

The plays will be performed over the course of those three days, and people can sit in for any or all of the performances. After each play, there will be a brief "talkback" with the playwright, director, and actors.

All proceeds benefit Chestnut Street Playhouse.

Playwrights Festival, 7 p.m. Fri. and Sat. and 2 p.m. Sun., Chestnut Street Playhouse, 24 Chestnut St., Norwich; tickets $12-$50; chestnutstreetplayhouse.org.
