The Day wins award at New England news conference
The Day's Sunday edition was recognized by the New England Newspapers and Press Association Thursday as a distinguished newspaper for 2019.
The award was bestowed at the annual New England News Conference, held this year in Worcester, Mass.
The Day, along with the Cape Cod Times, were named "Distinguished Newspapers" among New England publications for Sunday editions with circulation between 20,000 and 40,000.
The Day Publishing Co. is an independent company based in New London that was established in 1881 and has distributed more than $12 million to nonprofit organizations through its philanthropic arm, The Bodenwein Public Benevolent Foundation.
