UPDATED: Malloy to activate Emergency Operations Center; schools closing early
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy will partially activate the state’s Emergency Operations Center at 1:00 p.m. today to monitor storm conditions across the state heading into the afternoon rush hour.
“This will allow us to quickly respond to any problems that may arise as a result of today’s storm,” Malloy said in a statement. “I am asking everyone to take it slow as you head out for your afternoon commute.”
The current forecast is calling for the snow to become moderate by mid-afternoon and continue through the afternoon rush hour.
The National Weather Service said that 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected in the region. The storm is expected to leave the state by 7 p.m.
The snow storm prompted many school districts to close early today.
The following school districts are having an early dismissal: Bozrah, Colchester, East Lyme, Griswold, Groton, Ledyard, Lyme-Old Lyme, Montville, North Stonington, Norwich, Preston, Salem, Stonington and Waterford.
