Graceann Kraemer, the daughter of Donna and John Donna Kraemer, has received the Madison Exchange Club's David Bell Scholarship Award and was named the May 2013 Youth of the Month. The Daniel Hand High School (DHHS) senior was nominated by the DHHS faculty upon completion of a competitive application that included writing an essay titled "Youth Volunteerism Working Magic in Our Communities," participating in DHHS and community activities, attaining an excellent grade-point average, and demonstrating personal achievements and awards. Kraemer received a $200 check and commemorative plaque.

Kraemer is an honor student and co-captain of both the field hockey and basketball teams, was named to the 2nd team SEC and All-State Class M in field hockey, and received DHHS awards in both social studies and math. Kraemer was voted Athlete of the Week in October 2012 by The Source. She also attended American Legion's Girls State; organized a field hockey game with the theme "Fight vs. Breast Cancer;" and volunteered for the Jaycee's Summer Ride for Autism, The Cove Run, and The Yale New Haven Hospital Cancer Survival Day, as well as the Circle of Care at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Next year, she will enroll in the University of Vermont's speech therapy-audiology program, Fairfield University, or American Catholic University.
