Connecticut Sun forward DeWanna Bonner earned All-WNBA second-team honors as chosen by a national panel of sportswriters and broadcasters, the league announced Sunday.

Bonner, in her first season with Connecticut, was third in the league in scoring (19.7 ppg), sixth in steals (1.68 spg) and 10th in rebounding (7.8 rpg) during the regular season and was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week twice, as chosen by league coaches. She also helped the Sun (14-15) become the third team in league history to start the season 0-5 and make the playoffs.

Connecticut, seeded seventh out of eight teams, won single-elimination games in both the first and second round before losing to the top-seeded Las Vegas Aces, 3-2, in their semifinal series.

Bonner is the ninth player in Sun franchise history to earn All-WNBA honors. The others were Tina Charles (2010-13), Katie Douglas (2006-07), Shannon Johnson (1999, 2000 2002), Asjha Jones (2008), Jonquel Jones (2017, 2019), Taj McWilliams-Franklin (2006), Nykesha Sales (2004) and Lindsay Whalen (2008).

A’ja Wilson (Las Vegas Aces), the 2020 WNBA MVP, and Candace Parker (Los Angeles Sparks) were both chosen to the first team on all 47 ballots. They were joined by Arike Ogunbowale (Dallas Wings), Brenna Stewart (Seattle Storm) and Courtney Vandersloot (Chicago Sky).

Napheesa Collier (Minnesota Lynx), Skylar Diggins-Smith (Phoenix Mercury), Myisha Hines-Allen (Washington Mystics) and Diana Taurasi (Phoenix) made second team. Taurasi has been named All-WNBA a record 14 times.
