Woman arraigned after allegedly breaking into ex-boyfriend's house

A 42-year-old New London woman was arraigned in New London Superior Court this morning on charges that she broke into her former boyfriend’s house Friday and threatened the man’s new girlfriend with a steak knife.

Judge Arthur C. Hadden ordered that Solange Fletcher be held in lieu of $50,000 bond on charges of home invasion, second-degree threatening, first-degree burglary and disorderly conduct. Her case was continued to Dec. 1.

According to police reports, Fletcher, a school bus driver who lives at 846 Bank St., went to the home of Curtis Allen at 158 Lincoln Ave., New London, at 10:24 a.m. When Allen did not answer the door, Fletcher pushed through a screen and entered the house, according to police. When she saw the girlfriend, she picked up a glass jar and attempted to hit her, police said. Allen grabbed her and she dropped the jar. She then picked up a pair of scissors, which Allen took away from her. Next, she grabbed a steak knife and was holding it in her right hand when police arrived, according to the report.

Once in custody, she admitted she had broken into the home and said she wanted Allen to give her a ride to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
