New York — Tina Charles had 15 points and 14 rebounds as the New York Liberty downed the Connecticut Sun, 71-66, on Friday night at Madison Square Garden.
Reserve Sugar Rodgers scored 12 for the Liberty (13-16).
Katie Douglas scored 26 for the Sun (11-20), which have lost 14 of their last 17 games.
Alex Bentley (14 points) was the only other Connecticut player in double figures.
One more Sun loss eliminates them from postseason contention for the second straight year.
