    Tigers, Muckdogs split NY-Penn doubleheader

    The Connecticut Tigers and Batavia Muckdogs split a New York-Penn League baseball doubleheader on Saturday night at Dwyer Stadium in Batavia, N.Y.

    After dropping the opener 5-3, the Tigers (13-10) rolled to an 8-1 victory in the second game. Connecticut begins a three-game series at the Williamsport Crosscutters today.

    Josh Ashenbrenner went 3-for-3 in the opener for Connecticut, which lost when Batavia (10-12) scored twice in the fifth inning to break a 3-3 tie.

    C.J. Polk, Ryan Enos, Lee Smith, Eric Roof and Ryan Soares had two hits apiece in the second game for the Tigers, who broke the game open with three runs in the fourth to take a 6-1 lead.
