Have you been to your favorite clam shack yet?

Fish sandwich and a cup of New England clam chowder at Capt. Scott's in New London.

Last week, before the rains came, we made our first trip of the year to Capt. Scott’s in New London. As Lee Howard reported, the popular seasonal restaurant opened late this season because of damage caused by Sandy.

Now that it’s open, there’s nothing like grabbing a spot at a picnic table, right between the passing Amtrak trains and the boats moored in Shaw’s Cove, and enjoying a lobster roll, chowder or some fried clams. The special the day we visited was a fish sandwich, cup of chowder and a small drink for $8.95.

As an added bonus, two families of Canada geese kept us entertained while we waited for our order.

What’s your favorite clam shack and what do you order when you go?
