Stonington (0-0) at Fitch (0-1), 6:30 p.m.: It's Mystic, Pawcatuck and Stonington versus Groton and Mystic! It's neighbor versus neighbor! It's GOD'S OFFENSE v. GOD'S OFFENSE. It's live at TheDay.com! Follow at #gamedayct! We ain't too proud to shill.
Manchester (0-1) at No. 7 Southington (1-0), 7 p.m.: Manchester gave Class L runner-up Windsor fits last week before bowing in overtime (25-18). Curious, then, to see how it'll match up against a Blue Knights' defense that allowed just one touchdown in a 16-9 win over Glastonbury.
Wolcott (1-0) at Naugatuck (1-0), 7 p.m.: It's Week 2, and already we're gifted with an NVL Big Boy battle on Naugy's sparkling new turf field. Naugy scored 39 last week and the Eagles SIXTY ONE, so don't expect a defensive struggle.
SATURDAY
North Branford (1-0) at Ellington/Somers (1-0), 1 p.m.: Back in the old days (i.e. before this year), these two Pequot standard-bearers were in different divisions and didn't play. That's changed because the league decided in the offseason to schedule interdivision games. THANK YOU, PEQUOT OVERLORDS.
No. 6 Greenwich at Darien, 2 p.m.: These two haven't played since 2008. Stupid FCIAC scheduling quirks.
New London vs. Capital/Classical/Achievement at Dillon Stadium, Hartford, 6:30 p.m.: HATS OFF to Duane Maranda of New London and the Trailblazers' Chris Fulton for scheduling quality interleague competition instead of marshmallows. The Whalers' defense will get a good test as C/C/A's Mike Jones is man-sized and being chased by major D-I programs.
