    Pequots Fall In Consolation Game

    Williamston, Mass. — Southern Vermont College used a 65-41 edge in rebounding to defeat Mitchell College 88-77 in the consolation game of The Williams Tournament in Williamston, Mass. on Sunday afternoon.

    Nick Harrington had 37 points and 33 rebounds for Southern Vermont (2-10).

    Mitchell (0-12) was led by Eric Murray, who scored 16 points, and Brian Marciniak, who added 12.

    Murray was named to the all-tournament team.

    H.S. hockey

    • Ryan DeAngelis scored a power play goal with a minute remaining in the third period and Shelton defeated Norwich Free Academy 2-1 late Saturday night. NFA's Stephen Phelps scored on an assist from Tom Barbone in the first period. Kyle Manuilow made 32 saves in the loss for the Wildcats (1-5).

    H.S. wrestling

    • Fitch's Justin Beers and Justin Kelly went undefeated, winning all three of their matches as the Falcons defeated Berlin 36-34 and lost to E.O. Smith 54-30 and Daniel Hand 51-19, late Saturday.

    H.S. fencing

    • The Norwich Free Academy girls' team won a pair of matches on Saturday. Chelsea Gribbin and Jill Reid each won all eight of their matches for the Wildcats. NFA defeated Griswold 14-2 and East Lyme 10-6. East Lyme defeated the Wolverines 9-7.

    Thomas Dayton won all eight of his matches and Ted Generous won eight out of 10 as the NFA boys' team defeated Griswold 16-0 and East Lyme 13-3. East Lyme defeated Griswold 12-4.
