    Lowery throws one-hitter to lead Saints over Clippers

    Uncasville - Pat Lowery took a perfect game into the sixth inning, finishing with a complete-game one-hitter as St. Bernard School defeated Putnam, 6-0, in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Small Division baseball game on Monday.

    Lowery finished with 16 strikeouts and no walks. John Abreau singled to lead off the sixth for Putnam's only baserunner of the game.

    Anthony Ruffo homered for the Saints (11-5, 8-2) while Tyler Wild has two RBI and Bryan Hall scored twice. The Clippers are 3-13, 1-8.

    ¦ Josh Emerson pitched a complete game and struck out seven for Killingly in a 3-2, eight-inning win over Montville in the ECC Medium Division. Nick Brittain had an RBI single for Killingly (9-8, 5-3). Taylor Lewis had two hits with a run scored for Montville (13-4, 7-2) and the Indians left 13 runners on base and committed six errors.

    n Cal Wilson had a pair of doubles, including a bases-clearing one in the second inning that broke the game open, and Norwich Free Academy went on to defeat Woodstock Academy, 10-3, in the ECC Large Division. Ryan Harrington added a single and triple and Dominic Leone hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning for the Wildcats (11-5, 6-2), who remained tied for the division lead with East Lyme. Stephen Phelps (4-1) went the distance and allowed just four hits, one a double by Justin Szela. Woodstock is 4-13, 0-7.

    n No. 9 hitter Nick Wall doubled home two runs with two outs in the sixth inning to drive in the tying and go-ahead runs as Fitch rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to defeat Waterford, 6-4, in the ECC Large Division. Wall finished with two hits, two runs and two RBI for the Falcons (10-5, 5-3) and winning pitcher Tom Evans went the distance, retiring the last 12 batters. Kyle Turnier had a pair of singles for the Lancers (10-5, 4-4).

    n Dylan Delacruz hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning and East Lyme scored eight runs in the third to defeat Ledyard, 17-7 in the ECC Large. Wes Aylward went 4-for-5 and scored two runs and Rew Wilson had three hits, two runs scored and drove in a run for the Vikings (11-4, 6-2). Drew Wydler went 3-for-4 with two RBI for Ledyard (8-8, 3-5).

    n Tyler Pogmore's RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning tied the game and he came around to score the eventual game-winning run on a wild pitch later in the inning as Lyman Memorial defeated Tourtellotte, 2-1 in the ECC Small. Sean Scanlon struck out six and gave up just three hits in seven innings for his sixth win. Andrew Rice hit an RBI single for the Tigers (6-10, 4-7). Lyman is 11-6, 7-2.
