Matthew Benedict M.D. and Christina Tsao M.D. were married Oct. 4, 2008, at St. Monica Catholic Church, Santa Monica, Calif. Father Timothy Klosterman officiated the traditional Catholic ceremony. The reception was held at the Hotel Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica, Calif. The couple met through a mutual friend. The couple honeymooned in Bora Bora, Tahiti.

The best man was the groom's brother, Mark Benedict, a financial consultant and office vice president at Merrill Lynch in New London. The matron of honor was Darice Liu, M.D. a friend of the bride and a physician in Pomona, Calif.

Dr. Benedict is a radiologist in private practice for Beverly Radiology Medical Group in Beverly Hills, Calif. He grew up in Mystic and is a graduate of St. Bernard High School in Montville. Dr. Benedict received a bachelor of science in biology from Providence College. He received his M.D. from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He finished radiology fellowship training at the University of California at San Francisco.

Dr. Benedict's father is a pathologist in private practice at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London. His mother is a retired nurse who graduated with a bachelor of science in nursing from Boston College.

Dr. Tsao is a radiologist in private practice at Pomona Valley Hospital in Pomona, Calif. Dr. Tsao received her bachelor of arts in economics from the University of Virginia and her M.D. from the University of Michigan. She completed a residency in radiology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Mich. She completed a fellowship in neuroradiology at the University of Southern California.

Dr. Tsao's father is a retired professor at the Beijing Research Institute of Education Science in Beijing, China. Dr. Tsao's mother is a retired instructor at the Beijing University of Technology in Beijing, China.
