    Groton - Ethan Palmer and Victoria Georgetti each won two events for the Ledyard/Stonington swim team in a 74-57 win over New London in an Eastern Connecticut Conference meet at Avery Point on Wednesday.

    Georgetti and Palmer were members of the winning 200-yard medley relay team with Bryan Levine and Tim Nohara. Georgetti won the 500 freestyle and Palmer won the 100 breaststroke. Ledyard-Stonington is 9-5, 9-5.

    Tim Ricatta won the 100 free for New London (2-11, 2-11).

    Boys' basketball

    ¦ Joe Liberty scored 11 points for Old Saybrook in a 53-33 loss to Morgan of Clinton in the Shoreline Conference.

    Old Saybrook (12-8) will play at Coginchaug on Saturday in the first round of the Shoreline Conference Tournament.

    Girls' basketball

    ¦ Marissa Peck had five points with 15 rebounds and five blocks for The Williams School in a 35-34 loss to Marianapolis Prep in the first round of the SENE Conference tournament.

    Girls' gymnastics

    ¦ The Eastern Connecticut Conference champion Fitch/Waterford co-op team earned one of eight berths for Saturday's CIAC Class L championships at Pomperaug High of Southbury (1 p.m.)

    Fitch/Waterford has the top quality mark with 139.417 points, followed by four-time defending champion Southington (137.908). Norwich Free Academy (136) also qualified.

    Men's basketball

    ¦ Craig Johnson scored 19 points with 14 rebounds for No. 7 Coast Guard in a 66-62 overtime loss to No. 2 MIT in the quarterfinal round of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference tournament.

    Jevon James added 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Trip Fernandes scored 11. Coast Guard is 12-12.

    Women's basketball

    ¦ Sabrina Taylor and Melissa Martinelli each scored nine points for No. 7 Coast Guard Academy in a 59-35 loss to No. 2 Babson in the quarterfinals of the NEWMAC tournament.

    Martinelli also had seven rebounds and Leslie Hunt scored six points for Coast Guard (5-21).

    College swimming

    ¦ Conn College finished seventh at the New England Small College Athletic Conference championships this weekend.

    Sarah Murphy and Erika Fernandes each earned a spot on the All-NESCAC team.

    Murphy finished third in the 200 butterfly and fourth in the 100 butterfly. In the 200 IM, she set a school record during the preliminary rounds.

    Fernandes was third in the 200 breaststroke and sixth in the 100 breaststroke.

    Also, Kristen Zarba was fifth in the 100 freestyle, while Kat Komninos was sixth in the 50 backstroke. Fernandes, Alyssa Palmer, Murphy and Catherine Lindberg earned a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay for the Camels.
