A twofer at the Custom House

The New London Maritime Society celebrates its 26th anniversary today with a pair of Founders' Day events.

First is an afternoon tea/fundraiser featuring author Jeff Benedict talking about his work as an investigative journalist, and his books, “Little Pink House” and “Without Reservation.” The event, from noon to 3 p.m., costs $50 ($40 for maritime society members).

The second is the free opening, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., of an exhibition of ship models created by Bob Stewart, a Mystic resident who is a naval engineer as well as model maker. The ships will be displayed with their notebooks and research through September.

The Custom House is at 150 Bank St., New London. Call 447-2501 or visit www.nlmaritimesociety.org.
