    Welcome anywhere

The CarLeans, arguably the area’s most popular Americana quartet, are “most popular” because of their cross-all-demographics likeability.

Indeed, what’s not to like? With the literate and clever songs of singer/tunesmith Jim Carpenter, the butter ‘n’ honey harmonies of vocalists Sarah McClean and Rachel McClean-Sargent, and the Mingus-goes-country bottom provided by bassist Corina Malbaurn, the CarLeans are wonderfully distinctive even in a crowded musical genre.

It’ll be fun to see them Saturday when they appear at New London’s Garde Arts Center in the Oasis Room. Many of these customers will be seeing the CarLeans for the first time – after which they’ll be solid fans.

Worth noting: this show is a makeup for a May 6 date. If you had tickets for that evening, they’ll be honored for this booking.

    The CarLeans, 8 p.m. Saturday, Garde Arts Center, 325 State St., New London; $25; www.gardearts.org, (860) 444-7373.
