Just $99 for 50 Cent at Foxwoods

I remember attending a late-night celeb-clustered dance party/event where one of those Jay Z people was going to appear. The music was bone-powderingly loud, the lights looked like the Milky Way was having a Civil War with itself, and the hours dragged by and the headliner — who wasn’t necessarily going to perform but MIGHT, or he could possibly just spin a few tunes from the DJ booth because none of that was made clear — still hadn’t shown up.

I was just wandering around, by far the oldest person in the room — until I almost ran into someone even older. It was Quincy freakin’ Jones, and he looked just as lost as I did.

“Hi Quincy! I’m Rick!” I shouted. “Hi Rick!” he shouted. Then I left and I have no idea what else happened.

Hopefully, rap star 50 Cent will make a more punctual appearance when he headlines a New Year’s Eve party at Shrine in Foxwoods. Also scheduled are AyEoo Romero — THE AyEoo Romero — and DJ Screwloose. There’s no info as to whether 50 Center will actually rap, and all can hope that he will. But if he’s just wandering around, go up and introduce yourself. Tell him Quincy Jones sent you.

    50 Cent, 9 p.m. Saturday, Shrine Nightclub, Foxwoods; $99.50; www.foxwoods.com.
