Josh Rouse brings his music to the Knick
Josh Rouse is one of those many folks who, by now, has assimilated the fact that, despite his excellence as a pop songwriter, he’ll just never be as well-known or properly acknowledged as he deserved to be.
The good news — the best we can hope for, I suppose — is that Rouse DOES have a solid fanbase and can tour, craft his excellent, intelligent songs and (presumably) make a fine living. Give a listen to his e’er-youthful voice and yearning, seemingly effortless melodies on tunes like “Love in the Modern Age,” “Julie (Come Out of the Rain”), “Salton Sea” and “Businessman.” See?
Rouse performs Sunday at the Knickerbocker Music Center in Westerly and, if you can carve out some time to attend, you’ll be enriched.
