    Say hello to ‘Goodbye’

    Pocket Vinyl (submitted)

Matched only by their commitment to the demands of an indie rock career — you gotta want to do it — Pocket Vinyl seems capable only of turning out material that’s fresh, creative, adventurous and progressively compelling.

In March, the duo — pianist/songwriter Eric Stevenson and onstage artist Elizabeth Jancewicz — released their latest album, “You Never Say Goodbye When You Leave.” As per the first two singles, “Be Here Now” and “Rubber on My Teeth,” Stevenson seems incapable of repeating his melodic themes even as he burrows e’er-deeper into his own psyche for subject matter. Great stuff. The whole album, produced by Alex Glover, is a high point in the estimable PV catalog.

As necessitated by increasingly sophisticated arrangements, a full band is now pretty much necessary for live shows. In that spirit, see the expanded Pocket Vinyl — with plenty of room onstage for Jancewicz to apply her own genius to canvas — plays the Strange Brew Pub in Norwich on Saturday.

Pocket Vinyl, 8 p.m. Saturday, Strange Brew Pub, 86 Water St., Norwich; $10; strangebrewct.com.
