    A ‘Footloose’ farewell

    Kenny Loggins (Leslie Hassler)

It’s reached the point where folks are backing out of attending farewell tours.

“I can’t go to Kenny Loggins tonight in Mohegan Sun Arena.”

“What do you MEAN you can’t go? We’ve got tickets!”

“No matter. There are too many. We’ve just said farewell to Elton. The B-52s. Kiss. The Eagles … It’s gotten to the point where every artist coming through is on their last tour. This is Kenny’s farewell tour, too. And I always cry at goodbyes.”

    Well, folks, gut it up!

Kenny deserves your respectful send-off. It doesn’t matter that he wrote “Danny’s Song” in 1971 about his brother becoming a father as a high school senior. That kid is 52 years old now!

“Footloose” came out in 1984. Let’s see Kenny romp across the stage like a 24-year-old Kevin Bacon NOW! Hell, let’s see KEVIN dance like that! Or, for that matter, let’s see how spryly the 52-year-old “Danny’s Song” kid can boogie! His knees hurt, too.

But that’s the point: we’re old. Go see Kenny Loggins while you can. He’ll smile and tell you you’re the lucky one.

Kenny Loggins, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Mohegan Sun Arena; $39.50-$199.50; mohegansun.com.
