    Mystic Seaport announces inaugural writer-in-residence

    Osman Can Yerebakan (submitted)

Osman Can Yerebakan has been named the first honoree in Mystic Seaport Museum’s new Writer-in-Residence program.

The annual, week-long residency will take place at a date to be determined in April.

The residency correlates with the museum’s “Find Your Sea Story” campaign, which encourages audiences to reflect on their own histories and heritage in the context of the ocean and its culture.

During his stay, Yerebakan, who has written for the New York Times, BOMB Magazine, the Financial Times and the Art Newspaper, will have access to the museum’s staff, permanent exhibitions and adjunct materials including the over 500 historic vessels in the Henry B. du Pont Preservation Shipyard, the museum’s Collections Research Center, the G.W. Blunt White Library and much more.

The Writer-in-Residence program includes domestic transport, accommodation, and a food stipend.
