    Spring, sonically

Kevin Bishop, music director of the New London Community Orchestra (submitted)

The New London Community Orchestra presents a matinee “Spring Concert” Sunday in New London’s St. Mary Star of the Sea Church.

On the program will be Haydn’s Symphony No. 104 (“The London”); Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins featuring soloists Debbie Stowell and Marika Basagoitia; Shostakovich’s Waltzlll No. 2; and Yukiko Nishimura’s Flying Away.

Now in its 13th season, the New London Community remains committed to inspiring performances, intriguing programs – and, as a not-for-profit organization, to helping the region at large. The concert is free, but the requested $10 donations will go entirely to supporting the Music City Strings program that offers free instrument lessons for ensemble-sponsored students.

New London Community Orchestra, 4 p.m. Sunday, St. Mary Star Church of the Sea, 10 Huntington St., New London; free, $10 donation requested; nlcommunityorchestra.org.
