Beatle tribute act brings their show to the Garde

The Fab Four (courtesy Paladin Artists)

The Beatles have sold over 420 million albums worldwide and are #1 in that category. This is not surprising inasmuch as they’re, ah, the Beatles.

What IS surprising is that there are an estimated 827 million Beatles tribute bands! Surveys indicate fully two-thirds of Earth’s population have been in a Beatles tribute band at one point or another — although most quit when they had to play “Yer Blues,” “Blue Jay Way” or “Revolution 9.”

It’s understandable, then, if you stifle a yawn on news that another Beatles tribute act is coming to town.

    EXCEPT!

The Emmy-winning act The Fab Four is a really excellent Beatles tribute band. They’ve played worldwide, represent every phase of the Beatles’ career (including era-appropriate costumes), and offer precision versions of some pretty difficult tunes — many of which the original dudes didn’t play live.

See The Fab Four Thursday at the Garde Arts Center. And, no, they won’t play “Old Brown Shoe,” either, so it just gets better.

The Fab Four, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Garde Arts Center, 325 State St., New London; $45-$85; gardearts.org, (860) 444-7373.
