The Cartells to be inducted into Mohegan Sun Wolf Den Hall of Fame

The Cartells in the Mohegan Sun Wolf Den (submitted)

Popular local legacy/party band The Cartells, who’ve entertained generations in the region over the years, will be inducted May 31 into the Mohegan Sun Wolf Den Hall of Fame. The group will perform two free shows in the venue that night, at 8 and 10:30 p.m., and Tom Cantone, the Sun’s President of Sports & Entertainment, will formally host a ceremony before the first set.

The Cartells will be the 15th act to go into the Wolf Den Hall of Fame, joining elite names like Eddie Money, Chubby Checker and Little Anthony and the Imperials. To date, The Cartells have performed in the Wolf Den 42 times.

The group is anchored by founding members Karin Barth-Tyska (vocals/percussion/sax), Joe Grieco (singer/keyboards) and Tom Majeksy (vocals/guitar). Also in the band are Michael “Mickey” Manglicmot (percussion), Bill Holloman (trumpet/tenor sax/vocals), John Corvo (drums/vocals) and Jay Wiggin (bass/vocals). The group, formed in 1986, has over 200 dance-happy rock, pop, jazz and funk tunes in their catalog.
