    That enduring punk spirit

    Jesse Ahern (submitted)

Was Woody Guthrie the first punk musician?

There are arguments to be made, at least in terms of that rebellious, activist commitment.

And speaking of that spirit, make way for Boston’s Jesse Ahern, a fiercely tuneful practitioner of working class Americana and folk. Fresh off a tour with the Dropkick Murphys and the Rumjacks, and the first artist signed to the former’s own Dummy Luck record label, Ahern headlines “An Evening of Rebel Music” Friday at 33 Golden Street in New London. My Druthers and Mark Leonard fill out the bill.

    Jesse Ahern, 7:30 p.m. Friday, 33 Golden Street, 33 Golden St., New London; $10; (860) 443-1193.
