    Now THAT’S a backstory

    Nicole Treska (Sasha Rudenksy)

If the old authorial advice “write what you know” is true, it seems some would-be scribes are at a disadvantage.

    “I’m a fourth-generation bicycle tire repairperson.”

“We were competitive sleepers, that’s mostly what I remember.”

“I always knew I wanted to collect wheat samples from all over.”

Or maybe you have more interesting material.

Consider Nicole Treska. Her debut book is a memoir called “Wonderland: A Tale of Hustling Hard and Breaking Even,” and it describes an ambivalent father/daughter relationship inasmuch as she was born to a family of gangsters in the Boston area affiliated with Whitey Bulger’s Winter Hill Gang.

Treska will discuss and sign copies of “Wonderland” Saturday in Bank Square Books, and THAT should be interesting.
