    Bro-comic Swardson headlines Foxwoods Friday

    Nick Swardson (Chris Pizzello, Invision/AP)

Comedian Nick Swardson takes the stage Friday in the Fox Theater at Foxwoods. If you're not familiar with his style, well, consider the titles of his previous standup specials. There's "Seriously, Who Farted?" There's "Taste It." And this current tour is called "Too Many Smells."

These are not misdirects camouflaging deep but funny societal insights or meticulously sculpted joke-craft. Nope. The routines are exactly what the titles sound like. Swardson throws down a sort of perpetual frat-dude shtick with a lot of sex and dope jokes and "party on, bro" anecdotes interspersed with stories from movies or TV shows he's starred in and/or written — stuff like "RENO 911" or "Sandy Wexler" or "Bucky Larson: Born to be a Star."

It's accurate to suggest Swardson is like every funny stoner you knew in college — only he's managed maybe the hardest matriculation in standup: he in fact became a star because, somehow, subjects that typically aren't funny in the cold light of a hungover morning-after have a much longer shelf-life as nuanced by Swardson.

Nick Swardson, 8 p.m. Friday, Foxwoods' Fox Theater; $46.50-$56.50; 1-800-200-2882.
