Pirate Day at the Hempsted Houses in New London will be held on Saturday, with festivities running from 1 to 4 p.m. 

Visitors can meet members of The Crew of the Raven, local pirates who will share their stories and show their pirate gear. People can make their own pirate bead hair accessories, or purchase some colonial items from Big Bear Trading Company.

Budding shipwrights can craft their own toy boat and then set it afloat. Folks can learn about the rope making trade and participate in a pirate scavenger hunt.

And everyone can tour the historic Hempsted Houses, for $5 per person.
