The Mystic Museum of Art is a gem in downtown Mystic. The venue’s shows are always worth a trip, but this summer, it is bringing in an exhibition that is exceptional even by its own standards.

MMoA will showcase “Norman Rockwell’s Saturday Evening Post Covers: Tell Me a Story,” an exhibition that’s organized by the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Mass. It boasts all 323 covers that Rockwell created for the cover of the Saturday Evening Post. Those pieces are iconic, and they reflect so much of what was going on in America at the time. The museum will ask viewers to provide their own stories that might be missing from the world that Rockwell depicted.

The museum is closed from May 30 through June 17 to allow for the installation of the exhibition, which will be on view from June 18 through Sept. 18.

“More That Hot Type” and “Young at Art” are displayed through Sunday.

Mystic Museum of Art, 9 Water St., Mystic; closed May 30-June 17; hours 11 a.m.-5 p.m. daily; admission is usually free, but for special Rockwell exhibition, it's $10, free for members; (860) 536-7601, mysticmuseumofart.org.
