The New London Community Orchestra will hold a mermaid hunt contest a noon on June 4, with winners gaining free admission to the 7 p.m. concert the same day.

A dozen laminated mermaid cut-outs, based on the mascot of the orchestra, will be hidden near the Whale Tail Fountain at Parade Plaza. Each mermaid will be good for one admission to the concert at the Crocker House Ballroom, 35 Union St., New London

The concert program includes The “London (London Every Day) Suite” by Eric Coates; “H.M.S. Pinafore Overture” by Arthur Sullivan; “Rhosymedre” by Ralph Vaughan Williams; “Russian Sailor’s Dance” by Reinhold Gliere; “Trumpeter’s Lullaby” by Leroy Anderson; and more.

There is a $5 suggested donation for the concert, which is a fundraising event for the orchestra’s program of free violin lessons for children.
