NL native, Mitchell alum returns to discuss documentary of his life

Does anyone remember “math”? If you’re a youngster, the answer is probably “No.” You have machines to do “math” for you. If you’re older, you DO remember “math.” It was that hard subject that made you hate school. Of course, a few select Bright Persons actually liked and excelled at “math.” One would be New London native and Mitchell College alum Ed Belbruno — to the extent that he actually went to work for NASA reconfiguring the intricacies of space travel. Not exactly 2 + 6 = 8, is it? Plus: Belbruno also happens to be a renowned painter and fine artist whose works have been exhibited around the world. Recently, Belbruno was the subject of a documentary film called “Painting the Way to the Moon.” On Wednesday, Belbruno returns to the Mitchell campus to show and discuss the film and his experiences. The event takes place at 6:30 p.m. in the Weller Center on campus. It’s free and open to the public. Mitchell College is at 437 Pequot Ave., New London; (860) 701-5155.
