      Event Description:
Studio 33 Art & Frame Gallery is pleased to present the Three Friends Exhibit September 9, 2022 – November 5, 2022, featuring the maritime paintings of local artists Robert J. Hauschild 1941-2012, Phil Cutting 1934-2017, and John McGuire. We welcome all visitors to the CT Maritime Heritage Festival on Sat. Sep 9, 22 through the weekend, to our maritime themed exhibit. Robert J. Hauschild’s father was a commercial artist, as a child he was given full access to paint, paper, and brushes, his favorite watercolor and acrylic paintings would include what he knew-his early playground along a river with ferries, tugs, and lighthouses. Hallmarks of his paintings are hard edges, dramatic shadows and stark contrasts between dark and light falling upon the surface of the canvas. His work has been described as surreal and mystical in style and subject. His watercolor paintings have been reproduced on four New London Main Street posters. Phil Cutting, known as “Capt. Phil” professionally, was a radio personality and marine reporter. He loved anything to do with Long Island Sound, in his retirement he volunteered at Mystic Seaport and became an avid watercolor and pastel artist. John McGuire paints watercolor landscapes and seascapes based out of the New London – Waterford, CT area, Studio 33 carries his beautiful greeting cards featuring his watercolors of local scenes as well!
