      Art Exhibits/Openings

Studio 33 Art & Frame Gallery, 140 Bank St., New London, CT presents an exhibit titled “Thanks For Being You”, featuring the work of local artist, poet, author, sailor, business owner, tireless non-profit volunteer, USCG Veteran, and Prime Mover in the Inception of Hygienic Art, George Clarke 1941-2022, that will open Friday, January 27, 2023 at 5:00 to 8:00 PM and close on Saturday, February 11th 2023. Owner Sara Munro is inviting everyone who has his work in their collection, be it a painting, sculpture, mobile, poem, prose, photograph, or any other creative expression created by or inspired by George, and that of his good friend, fellow local artist, photographer, and non-profit volunteer, Bernard Skrupsky 1945-2022, to consider including their pieces in this exhibit. All works will be presented to the public as NFS – Not For Sale, In Private Collection. The exhibit is a fundraiser for Eli’s Garden of Healing – A Healing Garden For Victims Of Violence in Hamden, CT, a non-profit with a vision to create healing for members of the community, an urban greenspace for quiet reflection and sensory inspiration with designed walkways and sculptural elements. The healing garden was created in honor and in memory of Elijah Gomez. Elijah, age 15, was shot and killed while walking home from school, he was passionate about nature, friends, and family. George Clarke was a close family friend of Elijah’s who advocated always for non-violence and peace, often accompanied by his friend Bernard Skrupsky. Visitors to the exhibit are invited to make a donation to Eli’s Garden of Healing in Eli’s memory, and in memory of his family friends George Clarke and Bernard Skrupsky.
